An American Hero
Justin was called to action when he became aware that there were not enough PPE's to protect medical care providers from COVID-19. Justin quickly developed a plan that included renting the second largest cargo plane in the world and having it flown to China. The aircraft was filled with as many supplies as it could hold and flown back to Ohio to begin distribution. To reduce dependence upon China, Justin purchased mask-making equipment made in the United States and has started production in Mentor, Ohio.

Illegal to Be Me
During the 2016 presidential campaign, Siena heard one message loud and clear. Mexicans are criminals, drug addicts, and rapists. A wall would be built to keep America safe. But, the message 11-year-old Siena received, was that as a Mexican American, she was not safe. As a result, Siena is working toward awareness and social change. She is a member of the Sunrise Movement. The organization seeks to remove the oppressive and unsustainable systems to create a just future. One such system is our current system of law enforcement.

Broken
Julie, a non-medical essential worker, worked directly with folks with Covid-19. The hours were long, and proper PPE's were not always available. The physical and emotional strain became too high, and she became exhausted, mentally, and physically. At the time these photos were taken, Julie was on medical leave. Julie and I spoke for four hours. I took the first photo upon arrival, the lower right at the mid-point, and the last at the very end. After 4 hours of chatting, Julie felt well enough to get dressed and put on makeup. A simple task, yet one that had become too difficult to undertake most days. Julie is one step closer to well.
